Khopesh
Time Period: 16th-4th century BC
Location: Egypt
Common Construction: Bronze or Iron
The khopesh was one of the most powerful and versatile swords of the ancient world. Sharpened on both sides, the blade is curved such that one side of the blade can be used for slashing, while the other side can be used for chopping.

The khopesh was originally used in war against the Egyptians, in the form of the Assyrian sappara. They eventually adopted the weapon as their own. The Greek kopis may have been derived from this weapon.

I’ve had several long covnnrsatioes with Andy over the last 8 years about his art and life after purchasing an extensive collection of his works. I found him to be passionate and very open concerning details of his life as an artist and a man. It was these conversations that validated my initial compulsion to own his paintings. There will never be a story or man like him again. Miss you Andy.
