Ranseur
Time Period: 17th century
Location: Europe
Common Construction: Wooden haft with a steel head

The ranseur is a 17th century variant of the spetum. The side blades on the ranseur had backward protuding hooks that could catch on a horseman's armor and pull him from the saddle. Sometimes the ranseur is just considered another variant of the spetum, but most people consider it sufficiently different enough to have its own classification.
