Sgian dubh is a Scottish dagger between three and four inches long. Gaelic for "black knife," it is typically concealed in the sleeve or tucked into the boot. Its exact use is not certain, it was probably a utility knife that doubled as a personal defense weapon. It has remained part of the Scottish Highland dress as a ceremonial weapon.
